The rule and the struggle, the rule in the struggle, this is the juridical.”- Michel FoucaultPenal Theories and Institutions is the title Michel Foucault gave to the lectures he delivered at the Collège de France from November 1971 to March 1972.In these lectures Michel Foucault presents for the first time his approach to the question of power that will be the focus of his research up to the writing of Discipline and Punish (1975) and beyond.  His analysis starts with a detailed account of Richelieu’s repression of the Nu-pieds revolt (1639-1640) and then goes on to show how the apparatus of power developed by the monarchy on this occasion breaks with the system of juridical and judicial institutions of the Middle Ages and opens out onto a “judicial State apparatus”, a “repressive system”, whose function is focused on the confinement of those who challenge its order.Michel Foucault systemizes the approach of a history of truth on the basis of the study of “juridico-political matrices” that he had begun in the previous year’s lectures (Lectures on the Will to Know) and which is at the heart of the notion of “knowledge-power”.In these lectures Foucault develops his theory of justice and penal law.The appearance of this volume marks the end of the publication of the series Foucault’s courses at the Collège de France (the first volume of which was published in 1997).

Cute book! It's fun reading the little segments to my 3-year-old son to get him excited about our next Disneyland trip. But, it's pretty limited. Very much a "primer" to Disneyland with some cute illustrations. I would love more detailed maps, info about attractions, and more photos, especially. The maps are pretty useless, and there are illustrations where there should be photos in many places. The attractions need more detailed info in terms of height requirements, typical wait times, etc. I guess I was expecting a more traditional guide book geared toward kids, not a storybook featuring some Disneyland facts.

Excellent book - very visual, fun and full of cool Disneyland facts. Really enjoyed the history portions. The kids recited the small known facts each day we were at the park, and still, weeks after our trip, look thru the book and recount memories from the various rides. The art style is fun and we all learned quite a bit about Disneyland in the process. Now they just need to add a California Adventure one!

This book is fantastic! We try to visit Disneyland every year and have several books on the subject. I bought this for the kids to get excited for an upcoming trip. They absolutely devoured the contents of this book and have been sharing new and interesting facts with me all day. It's a beautiful and refreshing take on the park and has been a great way to share my love for Disneyland with the kids. I loved the fact that she included maps that were simple and large enough to read. It's a very nice balance of information and fun. Totally worth it! Thanks!

I just love this book. I purchased it for my 9 yr.old granddaughter who was granted a wish from the Make a Wish Foundation. Her wish was to go to Disneyland, and that special wish will come true in November of this year. I first purchased in for me on my Kindle, so I would be in the loop and I wanted to see what she would be receiving from Amazon in the mail. It is so well written, with so much detail !! This book will keep her very busy for the months to come and when her wish is granted she will be well versed in what to do and where to go. The games are superb, and will keep her very busy.I will also be ready to enjoy this wish with her.

This book is so amazing! From the artwork to all the little trivia bits that I had no idea about! The illustrations keep both myself and my 2 year old son smiling from ear to ear on every page. Loving the little board game at the end too! You can tell a lot of love went into the making of this book. So glad I made this purchase!!! It's worth every penny, and more!

Love this book! My kids thought it was so fun and they are baby to age 5. My2yo said it is his favorite book. My mom loved mine so much I bought one for her too. Ours is now also full of autographs from our trip. It was a big hit with each character as the cast members looked it over and showed the characters how awesome it is. We also went to her Etsy shop and bought all the matching buttons. The book is beautiful, fun to read, full of interesting facts and helpful info, and light enough to carry around the park with you.

Book is filled with Disney information and activities. My co-worker got one and treasures it after their visit. Provides children with what the ride is and just as important activities (not video games) to quickly pass time in lines. Most books like this focus on "how" to visit the park. The author provides a guide on experiencing Disney to the fullest with an heirloom book to share with family, keeping our fond memories fresh for years.

My son loves this book. We are Disney world nuts. Since we live in Florida we go to Disney World a lot. Our family finally made a trip to Disneyland and love how this book informed us as a family and my eight year old son could read it easily and be interactive with it at the same time by writing in it. He would remind us of facts he learned. Great book!
