I keep a journal. I have since I was 10. As I got older, and being artistically inclined, I began to add "fodder" to my journals. Within the last few years, I discovered the art journal, and though I don't put art on all of my pages, I am interested in adding flourishes, etc to my normal written entries. I bought their first book, Journal Junkies Workshop because I liked that they seemed to have a different perspective on the art journal. They seem a little disdainful (as another reviewer pointed out) of other popular art journalers who always use layer after layer of paint and include antique-y photos with dunce caps and wings. True, those elements seem to be favored by a lot of artists for some reason. But if THAT is what speaks to those people, then they should do it.I was firstly disappointed that the "365" and "daily doses of inspiration" didn't mean that there were actually 365 writing/journaling/art prompts. They divide the book in 12 sections, meant to be done throughout a year, but then they give you only 4 basic prompts, that, one would assume, you are supposed to ruminate over for 7 whole days. I think they mention that there are places on the internet that list journal prompts, but couldn't they have just come up with a big list anyway, to make the title more true?I liked the prompts, I will possibly work some into my journal, but their techniques that they show were all pretty much covered already in their other book.I really love the look of the cover. And one last note: Neither of these guys must have kids for them to suggest you leave your journal out and open on your desk. If I were to do that, my kids would grab the nearest crayons and scissors; goodbye journal.

This is one of my favorite go-to books for ideas for my sketchbook. The ideas are new and not overused. The pictures and directions are clear and allow for the reader to make their own decisions and designs. It is definitely not a copy the art project book. It is much deeper than that. I would recommend this book to anyone. I'm hoping to use these prompts for my AP art students next year for their sketchbooks. I feel that both high school students and artists who love working in their sketchbooks would benefit from this book.

I'm a beginning Art Journalist. I hesitated at first, because due to illness I've been home every day and I didn't think I'de have anything interesting to say or inspiration to draw from. But also I think, that I had a misconception of what an Art Journal can be. I was under the impression that I would have to be living life out and about. Traveling to different places gathering visual as well as emotional information (something fascinating and really deep) to place in my Journal. To make it interesting. Actually it's not absolutely necessary. I'm not saying it doesn't help but when your choices are limited you can improvise. Not only do they give you great instructions they also give you promps. It can be a word, a quote, or passed memories. Anything that gets your mind moving into a thought process. My first page was about my two favorite inventions. I sketched my Kindle e-reader and my iPod and added my thoughts on them. A short paragraph. Silly, maybe, but it was a start. After reading this I realized I was making it more complicated than it was. There's no need to develope angst over it. It's suppose to be fun. I also like their style. Many Journalists like to make their Journals three dimensional by that I mean they apply buttons and things that makes it very bulky. I'm not saying that's bad. I just prefer the way they add interest to there pages. They add it with paint, sketches, words or fonts, newspapers, magazines, receipts, stamps, tissue paper etc... In the form of a collage. It's interesting without being too bulky. Obviously, it's personal preference. Just do what you love and have fun. I am.

The authors really do live up to their promise of a daily source of inspiration. At first I didn't always connect their prompts in journal keeping with my personal interest in painting, but wanting to get the most out of their material I obediently proceeded to follow each prompt. It required a lot more writing than I had planned on, and a lot of personal history that I found irrelevant to my goals as an artist, not an an autobiographer. This is likely because I am somewhat older than the average reader of this sort of book, and no longer feel much of a need for self discovery or self examination. Be that as it may, I have so far enjoyed the activities, and most of all, I find that my overall creativity level is indeed inspired, and shows in my artwork. The down side is that I spend time on my journal that I should be spending on my painting.I purchased a second copy as a gift for a friend, and it seems to be inspiring her to return to her own artwork after a hiatus of some years.

Anything that had 365 in the tittle suggests everyday of the year. I expected something for everyday, even if it was just a tip of the day or suggestions on how to journal everyday. I was really hoping for a prompt for everyday but this book doesn't even come close. I really wish I had read the reviews before buying it.

Love the ideas and refreshingly new techniques that are accessible to everyone, not just the artistically talented. I’m looking forward to trying this out very soon.

I like that it discusses when you make mistakes and that your journal doesn't have to be perfect. It teaches you how to self-reflect.

I expected daily doses and got more like ramblings grouped under some headings. Not enough in examples of pages from beginning to end. It only gives some pieces from the middle. Does not feel like 365.

Writing Spilled Milk was very emotional, and as a self-published and first-time author, I know now that the first edition of Spilled Milk (2013) was not in its "best form", but I also couldn't bear to have a professional editor or proofreader make changes to it. It was all still too raw and personal for me. Since several colleges and high schools have incorporated the novel into their lesson plans and I've received tons of feedback from my voracious fans- I knew I needed to come out with a more polished and professional edition that was appropriate for the education system, my fans, and in general. The second edition of Spilled Milk (2015) has been proofread by two amazing professionals in the industry and I am proud of the outcome. I am the survivor of 21 years of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of someone who was supposed to love me and care for me, my own father. Tears are streaming down my face as I finished, 2 am on a Friday night, K.L.’s book. I started it at 10 pm- yes, I read the whole thing in 4 hours. It’s riveting. So many things make sense. What she went through I fear is so very much worse than what I did, but so many things make sense. EXCEPT OUR DAMN JUSTICE SYSTEM! Wake up, social services! Wake up, advocates! To me, this book is a call to arms. More victims MUST stand up and become survivors. So these men can’t practice their evil for 40+ years!!!!! God help America and God have mercy on the evils that earthly fathers do. And shed light on the evils.

I picked out this book randomly a few days ago when I was bored and just wanted to ready something. At first all I expected from this book was a good and interesting story, but when I continued reading, I found it to be SO much more then that. I was deeply touched by the bravery and strength of the girl, and I actually cried several times when some of the moments really hit me. After reading this book, I finally have an idea of what is it that a lot of people are going through, and I can finally understand how hard and scary it must be for people to open up and seek help when they are being abused, sexually harassed, or something even more horrible. Before even though I've been to a lot of assemblies where people come in and talk about how most victims in these kind of situations didn't have a choice when they first started (the assemblies were most about human trafficking, although this isn't what's been discussed in the book, it somehow reminded me of this), there had always been a part of my mind that thought maybe if they really wanted to get out of it in the first place, they could have a choice. And back then, I never realized there could actually be people around me who might be going through this right now. Looking back at it now, I just realized how arrogant I was before. This book has taught me a lot, and I believe it could inspire a lot of people who are experiencing similar situations in their lives right now. And maybe the strength of the character could also give them the same courage to stand up and seek help.

This book isn't a literary work of art, BUT, it is an easy and empowering read. The biggest hurdle is reading the painfully detailed descriptions of the abuse. Once you can see beyond that and enter the strength of the author- this book invites you to experience the world of misery so many people have experienced that you may never have been able to imagine. It opens your mind to why people are so intricate and individual. This book reminded me that we are all a product of our experiences and no one ever fully knows what we ourselves have experienced. This book may teach you to be more apathetic and empathetic to others or it may remind you to forgive yourself.

I love a good "based on a true story", and appreciate the author telling her story, as hard as it may have been. I could tell she's a novice author, but for being such, she did a phenomenal job! It started a bit slow, but after finishing the book I appreciated she did so; she didn't throw in your face the plot. To have the guts, the spunk, and the valor to face such evil, gives me hope for many others. Finally, I love the last chapter; it helped me and explained a lot to me. Thank you for sharing your story!

I'm not an avid reader and wanted something to read on the treadmill. So much for the workout. I couldn't stop reading this well written first hand account of the horrors that took place in this family. We need to all be aware and look for signs of abuse in those we meet and not stand on the sideline. Get involved, ask questions and be that bubble for those in need. The world needs more Gina's and Midge's.

Didn't know what this book was about when it popped up in my kindle suggestions. I downloaded the book only because it was a true story, which I'm a sucker for. I started reading it during some down time at work and couldn't wait to get home to finish it. Well written and held my attention. There were a few times where I wanted to stop reading when the subject matter touched too close to home, but it helped me deal with some past demons by forcing myself to continue. Touchy subject, but one that needs to be talked about.

These two authors are tops in the field of Trauma. This book was required for a doctoral level clinical psychology course in trauma. The book delivered as promised, however, maybe, just maybe there is a little over-kill or over saturation of material. I felt over whelmed at times with too much information coming at me at the same time. Even when chucking the information - there was a water hose on FULL FORCE of knowledge and information that obviously is needed when learning and serving victims of trauma. This book will serve you well in learning about and providing services for those affected by Trauma.

Got this for a class, it is easy to read and information. Recommended for all future clinician as trauma seems to be the basics for most psychological problems.

Started reading this in the Medical Library at UMass and was blown away how informative it was I had to purchase a copy for myself.

Excellent book for therapists. One of the other reviewers was disappointed because it was "written like a textbook", but this book is used as a textbook, so that makes sense. I've been a trauma therapist for 10 years, & I plan on using this book as a reference for years to come.

Excellent book. Well written and well edited, good current information.

The book does not compare with this psychologist tremendous energy she presents in person. We had her as a keynote speaker for a state convention and she was wonderful. Her book reads like a textbook. I am an experienced therapist and I can only read a little of the book at one time. She packed more information into an hour of keynote and then a workshop than I can get from the book. Very disapointing but I will use it for reference to specific situations with patients and that should be helpful.

While being addressed to therapists, this book provides excellent information regarding the experience of complex trauma useful for both trauma victims and family members.

I'm still laughing about the description of Tyler as being a jerk jock. Cass definitely has her hands full with him, and I love the banter, and all the feels in this book. What starts out as enemies, morphs into something that had me swooning. I actually want to go back and read their story over and over again! Abigail Graham has written a great story, and I'm glad that I decided to give it a chance, and I think anyone that likes romances with "jerk jocks" should give this a go!

Abigail Graham does not disappoint with this college romance about Tyler and Cass. I loved the older woman/younger man aspect of this story as well as the other elements affecting their relationship throughout the book. And after reading this story we will all want our own Tyler and his all of his actions that swoon Cass right off her feet! This was a fast paced read that will keep your attention from start to finish.

I could not have anticipated the ending of this book and I was surprisingly thrown off on all that occurred and the unexpected twists that made it pleasing to read. So good.Cassandra is a professor at the University and Tyler is one of her students. Yes folks, an older woman/younger man romance but he is of legal age. Tyler was known as the man of the campus, a star football player and well known man whore. Failing most of his classes and on the verge of not graduating with his B.A., he is placed as Cassandra’s student in advising and managing his course requirements. Cassandra herself does not come from a stellar background and went through some wild days in her younger years. Both of them suffer from projecting facades that hide who they really are. While I like the fact that Tyler had more maturity and a growth in his thinking I believe that Cassandra could have waited until he graduated before having a relationship with him.
