Full disclosure: I know the author of the book.Now that I have confessed knowing said author, I can say with total bias that this is a great book (That was purchased at full price).As a person born and raised in the "Magic City", I thought I knew everything about Miami and this book showed me how wrong I was. Miami Cocktails is full of history about this wonderful city, only made better because it is full of amazing cocktails from some of the best bars in South Florida. Read this book and then head to your neighborhood liquor store and make some these tasty libations at home. Or better yet do the first part and then go meet the wonderful bartenders and bars that featured in the book and order a cocktail. Either way - win win.

Seriously– I bought this book and immediately started looking like Tom Cruise. I became an overnight success thanks to this author, Mr. Gabriel Gutierrez Mendoza Manolito Urrutia the Third. So many Latin women, so many dollar bills now. Pitbull who? I'm Mr. 305 NOW.

This book is for Anyone and everyone. From the cocktail guru to the amateur (me). The recipes are easy to follow and the pics are inviting. This book is a must in every home!!

Seikel's A&P for Speech, Language, and Hearing was a very good resource book. It had many pictures and pictures of the same anatomical structure but from a different view (posterior, lateral, etc) which was helpful. The complaint I have about the pictures is that the labels aren't consistently revealed, meaning, that just because a picture of the ethmoid bone will have 6 labels, another picture on the same page but a different view of the same bone wouldn't have the labels present. I'm not referring to if the particular structure is no longer visible but that it's visible structures are simply not marked. This mostly was a problem when looking at larger areas such as facial bones as a whole, when the picture would rotate to a different view it wasn't clear where a particular bone started and stopped. (David McFarland's "Netter's Altas of Anatomy for Speech, Swallowing, and Hearing" picture book filled in the gaps here when Seikel's pictures came up short). The end of chapter study reviews were very well structured and helpful for test taking. Overall the book was a useful textbook and a good aid for exam taking.

I feel like I spent most of my semester looking elsewhere for information or stumbling through all the errors in this book. Not only is it riddled with typos and grammatical gaffs, it is patently incorrect on a variety of anatomical points, and in many areas poorly and incomprehensibly written. Frequently the graphics are misleading or unhelpful. I got better and more understandable information by simply going to google and youtube to query the topics. At a minimum this text needs the assistance of an editor for proofing reading. I am working on a second degree and have never in my life encountered a text this unprofessional in its final form, let alone third edition! And the conceptual errors are inexcusable in a text of this nature. I hope it will be revised soon... Authors, please research your presentation of internal intercostal and pterygoid muscles ...

I bought this book for a class but oh my god is it boring!! Seriously fell asleep reading this multiple times. Also there are tons of typos and errors. I don’t know why my professor chose this book. I gave it two stars because it did have great pictures but that’s all it has going for it.

I don't say this lightly, but this book should be thrown in the trash. The sheer amount of incorrect information and typos should already give you a warning.The information is very unclear, often runs around in circles, and you reread the pages only to realize that at the end you haven't learned a thing. What the author does often is explain what anatomical structures are next to where in a rambling fashion; all without providing enough diagrams and pictures that correspond with the text. Sometimes the information contradicts what's been stated before, so you're left wondering what the hell is correct and what's not. It is absolutely maddening and nearly impossible to learn from this book. The few diagrams and pictures that are in the book are unhelpful, often incorrect, and unclear - whoever took pictures and drew diagrams for this textbook did not do their job. I'll give one example of many: in the ear chapter, the artist points to the cymba concha and labels it the triangular fossa. I had to check at least 3 other texts to confirm that this textbook got it wrong, and yes, it was wrong! I had to rely on my old anatomy textbooks and even bought the Netter's Head and Neck Anatomy for Dentistry text to supplement this craptastic excuse for a textbook. Even Barron's Anatomy and Physiology review book was more complete and clear than this one. I just don't understand why any professor would ever use this book! DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. You're going to end up learning the wrong information.

I got the eBook which was very helpful and necessary as I only needed it for a semester's class. However, the book itself was very detailed and confusing at parts. There may be better books for explaining- but it was great for the price and what I needed it for!

Im back at school after and almost 15 year hiatus, and I have a strong dislike for textbooks, but this one is great. The web course on cengagebrain.com is a total winner! Love the interactive learning and practice tests, which make tough memorization fun and easy. The authors make fairly dry anatomy applicable and interesting. Lots of visual examples and diagrams help break up the medical terms and concepts. Really strong textbook overall.

If you don't know a lot about anatomy, you are going to hate this book/class. This is a very fast review without much explanation.

A very good advanced introduction to this massive topic. Probably not right for you if you are new to this subject. In that case, Wei's book would be a better place to begin.

Fist off, what this book is not: It is not a Time Series Theory book like Tsay or Brockwell. If all you want is mathematical rigor, go somewhere else.Now, as to what the book is: it is an very easy to read intermediate text with examples drawn from the real world. It is also reasonably complete in building programming examples in R (with exception of Chapter 7, lamentably ... Chapter 6 code is available on the book's website).One other reviewer commented that some of the examples consist of only one line of R code. This is part of the power of R and CRAN that such powerful statistical techniques like ARIMA and Factor Modeling can be represented in a single function call, and not a shortcoming of the book.This book will not replace Tsay or Zivot and Wang on my shelf, but is an accesible, excellent text that does a very good job of covering its intended purpose, including some relatively advanced topics. Publishing code for Chapter 7 would rate this book its fifth star.

Even though I am new to Time Series Analysis and not very good at programming in R, I could fallow this book and actually utilized the example codes. Examples for each subjects were chosen very nicely. I have been working on a project and come across a very nice paper written on the subject of one particular form of State Space model. While I was trying to regenerate authors results with their Data, I had difficulty getting the right results. I found out that there was a big mistakes in the way they presented their data. To my surprise, Shumway and Stoffer analyzed the same data as one of the examples for state-Space model without the mistake of the original paper. I realized how relevant their examples to real life problems I am so interested in. As self study guide, this is a very good practice and reference book. It is intermediate level book for TSA. I think I will get more use out of this book than any other Math-statistic books I have ever used. I like to thank to the Authors.

I work in forecasting in the environmental sciences and I work almost exclusively with state space models. This book has been especially useful for understanding and applying state-space modeling to time series data. I have found other books on state-space modeling much more difficult to follow relative to this book. The code on the website (2006 edition) is very helpful also. I recommend that my graduate students to do self-study with this book. Admittedly they find it hard, and it is those with a strong math/stats background that gain the most from it. This is not an introductory text, even through is is mostly text and lighter on equations relative to, say, a pure math book. But this is a GREAT book for someone with a solid math/stats background and some basic time series analysis under their belt.I've noticed a number of negative reviews pertaining to the section on frequency domain analysis. I haven't actually done more than skim those sections as I never do frequency domain analyses only time domain analyses.Other books I use a lot for state-space modeling reference areHarvey (1989) Forecasting, structural time series models and the Kalman filterDurbin and Koopman (2002) Time Series Analysis by State Space Methods

I like this book, because its simplicity. I personally needed something that dealt with more of DLM's, but needed background on the general time series analysis. Its R examples were very helpful in showing the certain functions that are already implemented in R and how to construct your own time series.

The examples are interesting and informative, but it's been a few years since I took a statistics course and I had forgotten some of the basic manipulations necessary to work through the homeworks. It's still early in the course, but I think that the book and R examples will be more than adequate as an assist to lecture.

I like this book especially because it has good examples of R code that can be used. However in general, I think this book is very theoretical for a beginner who just wants to learn about time series. Reading this book requires prior knowledge about time series.

Everything from pedal cars, die cast, tinplate, and other materials.A useful feature is the inclusion of the same figure in each spread so that one can immediately see the comparative sizes from one to another. This is especially useful in the case of the early Matchbox which were not made to any consistent scale. Instead they wer made to fit the box!Thus the overall dimensions in inches are given instead.More modern diecast is often made in 1:50 scale (metric O guage) and 1:43 scale is close enough to look well on an O guage model train layout.Not a reference but a dream book: Especially the hard-used timplate Buddy L and pedal cars which were not made as collector's items.I well remember the Doepke line of construction equipment made in the late forties. Twelve fifty then, now extremely collectable and expensive.

This book only briefly describes the history and operation of the poster division of the WPA. The rest of the book is a picture book with a boatload of posters illustrated and arranged in 12 different categories. Its a must have for screen printing enthusiasts and lithographers who enjoy analyzing prints (posters) for number of colors and order of printing.

This was a gift for my brother. It arrived on time. I ended up returning it because the part he was really interested in was small and so he didn't like it as much as he thought. I still gave it 5 stars though because nothing was wrong with it.
