Okay, so I have a confession to make. Up to the point of reading Jamie Sumner’s new book, I’ve taken for granted one of the most precious gifts God’s given me. Not once, not twice, but THREE times God blessed me with an easy peasy experience of getting pregnant, carrying to full-term, and delivering a healthy child into my world. Aside from some morning sickness and a scare with our second son who stopped breathing momentarily at 5-days-old because of reflux, my journey of baby making was simple. I even weathered three natural child births without the numbing stuff. (But I might have cussed like a sailor during one of them…)I’ve heard many stories and have prayed for countless mommas struggling with infertility, complications, miscarriages, etc. But not until I read Jamie’s book did I recognize how I’d barely scratched the surface of gratitude for my waltz into motherhood.Reading about Jamie’s path towards the birth of her first miracle, Charlie, unraveled me. Jamie does a beautiful job chronicling her difficult journey to become a mother. Even in the times of desperate pain, she communicates what she went through with grace and humor. It's especially useful for Christian women, as she ties each of her chapters to a woman in the Bible. She illuminated her own story, their stories, and even my own with these adept comparisons. Highly recommended to all moms, especially those dealing with infertility or children who have medical issues.

Jamie shares about her tumultuous journey into motherhood with heart-wrenching honesty and beautiful story-telling. Her gripping writing made me grieve with her, celebrate with her, and engage God through all her peaks and valleys. It gave me a greater glimpse into the pain of infertility and the heartache of life-altering diagnoses, while also giving me a greater appreciation for the miracle and value of every life. I highly recommend this book!

Wonderful history books! I stumbled upon this series looking to supplement our existing homeschool curriculum--It quickly became our new curriculum! It's written in such an engaging narrative style and does a great job of not only explaining the important events, but the causes of them and reasons for them. It has made history come alive--I'm a history fan for the first time in my life--and it's my 4th and 6th graders' favorite subject. I think this book would work for around 3rd graders through at least middle school, if not high school. I can't begin to count all of the great discussions we've had sparked by these books. We've read 3 volumes and I just ordered the next. My only negative is that the kindle doesn't include all the side notes, as other reviews have mentioned. My kids have enjoyed reading on their tablets for a change, and it's so much more economical if everyone wants their own copy to read, but we are going back to the print for the next volume. I recommend it highly.

These are very well-written books and have a contemporary approach to explaining history to young minds. If you are concerned about 'revisionist history', not to worry...these books are historically accurate. They are well laid out and have interesting side facts as well as illustrations and photos, maps, etc.

We have been using this series for two years now for American history. It is a great backgroud reader. It is colorful and a narrative and the chapters are short which makes for easy lesson planning. What we do is read through this series in the background and on top of that we do "projects" on major subjects. Right now we're doing a lapbook on the Constitution. Our next project (unit study) will be on slavery. I nevery get any complaints on having to read this book. In fact, my son usually forgets to stop and reads too far!

My daughter read most of this series in 8th grade as her home-school history text. She really enjoyed it. It sparked a deeper interest in history for her. I have just bought the first four books which we were missing so that my 7th and 9th graders can read the whole series in this next school year. I think these books tell the history in more of a story form and go into more detail than regular textbooks. That is what makes it so interesting for students.

These books make history interesting. I love the entire series, as do my 8 and 10 yr olds.

We used the series while homeschooling. It was not just a lot of dry facts to be memorized (like when I was in school). It told the story in an interesting way and put it into context. The list of other resources was helpful, too.

I was very disappointed that all the pictures, captions and side notes in the original book were not included in the Kindle version. There should be some notification so that the purchaser is aware prior to purchase. I feel that my child is missing vital information by not having these included.

I gave this book 5 stars because it totally engages my students. They understand the "story" part of history with the book, and are very enthusiastic about it. Although it leaves out many details, using it in conjunction with a classic textbook provides students with a rich learning experience.

B. Brett Finlay, PhD, is the Peter Wall Distinguished Professor in the Michael Smith Laboratories at the University of British Columbia. This book provides a broad overview of research on the human microbiome and how it affects health and aging. It gets a bit technical at times, but is well organized, interesting, and easy to understand. I appreciated that the authors are clear about what we know, what we suspect, and what remains unknown.Each chapter discusses the microbiome of a different organ or system, summarizing results from current research, discussing areas where future research might be most helpful, and providing helpful suggestions for how to make use of this knowledge. Each chapter ends with a section of quick tips summarizing their recommended actions and a list of selected references. There is an index at the end, which I have not had a chance to review.Many of the health recommendations are going to sound familiar, but I appreciated getting a new understanding of why these recommendations are so important. For example, after reading about the oral microbiome, I am feeling a lot more urgency to brush and floss my teeth more often and to pay attention to what is in my toothpaste.I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about medical research. If you don’t think you would enjoy reading about studies conducted on germ-free mice or learning about how bacteria influence the levels of cytokines that affect inflammation and the immune response, then this may not be the book for you.I was provided an unproofed ARC through NetGalley that I volunteered to review. Because I have not seen the final published version, I cannot comment on the final editing and formatting.

"The Whole-Body Microbiome" is about what scientists have learned about mice microbiomes. Almost every study described in this book was a study done on mice rather than humans. This can give us an idea of what might work in humans, but mice aren't humans. The other studies tended to be population studies, so the cause and effect are not as certain.Beyond suggesting some changes in diet and avoiding antibiotics unless really needed, there was not a lot of practical advice for right now. Mostly, they talked about areas of future study and things that may be available in the future. The overall format of the book was to focus on a part of the body (not just the gut), briefly describe what we know about the human microbiome in that area, and describe various common chronic conditions and diseases where changes in the microbiota might help (mostly based on findings from studies on mice).I received an ebook review copy of this book from NetGalley.

I liked the fact that after each chapter the authors provided references for further reading, if you so desire. Also included are guided tips and suggestions to help maintain a healthier lifestyle.As someone living with a chronic illness, I have read many helpful books on the gut microbes. But this book has opened my eyes to the many other microbes in different parts of the body that affect our health. The information was quite fascinating and helpful.

I really love this password journal. There's more than enough room for all the websites I use. The artwork on the cover is really beautiful. When I was looking for an item like this, I was amazed at the amount I found that said "Password Journal" right on the cover, in very large letters. It's not something I really want to announce to the world, ya know? If you saw this in a drawer on a purse you'd just assume it's a little notebook or something. The book is organized alphabetically, so it's easy to find the website you're looking for. There's a place to put your contact info in case it does get misplaced. I plan to keep it at home, but you never know. I highly recommend.

I like the fact that I can log my internet passwords in one place and that it is alphabetic. However, it would be more helpful if the letters were tabbed in order to find what you're looking for faster. I had to buy self-adhesive tabs to add to the book in order to make it more usable.

I have used password books before and swear by them. This one has beautiful colors. It is small enough to carry in a handbag. Discreet enough to leave on a bookshelf and someone not realize what it is. Also, it is good for your older relatives who need big print books. The page entries are large enough for big print

It has a pretty cover and enough room inside to write passwords in and add changes. The one thing I find inconvenient is that it is not spiral bound so it doesn't stay open while I'm trying to type my password from it. Also a little too big in size.

Something that I have needed for years. I just can't remember all those sign ins.. I love the print on it and the colors, it is so whimsical. It goes well with an iphone cover that I bought..lol I think it is really the same print. It gives you all the info you need to help you remember you username and password. The alphabetical index on the side of the page is nice. It even has a place for notes to put such info as security questions. It was a little bigger than I was expecting but it will do the job. It is definitely going to be a godsend.

I bought two address books 4 x 6 a few years ago on Amazon by RockPoint. The spine is bound, beautiful designed cover and sturdy and will lie flat. I wondered why the quality of these old two address books was so much better than the Butterfly one. If you check the back cover, you will see that prices are given for the U.S. and also the U.K. Price was $9.99. Wish Amazon could get these address books back. Perhaps these books were made in the U.K.
