After reading "The Secret Of The Holy Rosary",I got a copy of another little book by Saint Louis Marie De Monfort entitled "The Secret Of Mary".This book provides the reader how to form the best relationship we could possibly have with the Blessed Virgin Mary in order to get closer to Jesus. It follows the basic principle of getting to Jesus through Mary. According to De Monfort, we can do this through prayer, getting to know oneself and improving ourselves into the best person we could possibly be by acquiring the virtues the the Blessed Virgin possess such as faith,humility,spirituality,obedience and many others. The book offers advice on how to do this.Aside from that, this easy-to-read book will teach the reader various prayers to Mary as well as to Jesus himself through other Marian prayers that we could use in our daily prayers.Let every Catholic take hold of this book and acquire the basics of loving,veneration and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary,the mother of Jesus. This is definitely a good companion to Saint Louis' other Marian book, "True Devotion To Mary" and the Holy Bible.
The book Secret of Mary is a follow-on book to another book entitled True Devotion to Mary written by St. Louis de Montfort between 1700 and 1716. The Secret of Mary is basically the True Devotion to Mary in short form - that is not to say that it replaces True Devotion to Mary in any way. A much more condensed book than True Devotion to Mary, it contains much of the material that is contained in True Devotion but it is not in as much depth nor should it be used to replace True Devotion to Mary. I love the book The Secret of Mary and say daily and nightly prayers from it every single day. I carry it on any travels so that I will always have both Mary and St. Louis de Montfort with me at all times. I didn't mention but feel that I should - I am a follower of St. Louis de Montfort and have consecrated myself entirely to Jesus Christ through the Blessed Virgin Mary, His mother.I recommend this book to anyone who has a desire to be closer to Mary and, through her, to her Son Jesus. By the way, there really is a Secret of Mary somewhere in this book and those of us who are already concecrated are not permitted to speak of it. READ THE BOOK -- FIND THE SECRET OF MARY!
Am finding this beautiful sweet small book a bit difficult to read, other than the print being small which, of course, it would be within such a little book; 'tis that I have trouble with "secrets" as topic titles &/or within text; kept wondering why I was objecting until after"secret" throughout (so far, reading not complete) I switched to Garry Wills book of the Rosary, happen to like Wills very much~ the cover art on the two Louis de Montfort books I have is worth buying the books and am certain eventually I will finish both"secret" books, but for immediate refresher guidance about the Rosary, I personally prefer the Garry Wills book.
Mary truly helps. Her intercession is powerful. If you persevere in this devotion daily. you will find Mary and She will lead you to Jesus. Experience is the key. You must persevere. Thanks be to God, for in HIS mercy, HE has given us Mary. It's a small book, you can carry it in your pocket or your car and either put about 15 min aside to either read some of it, or pray some of the prayers. This Secret of Mary is Truly a jewel.
I'm a little confused. I thought this would provide all of the necessary prayers and preparations to make the consecration to Jesus through Mary, written by St. Louis de Montfort, but all it contains is the (very beautiful) explanation of why to make the consecration. It seems like part of the book has been left out. Also, I noticed other commenters mentioned a small, pocket-sized book. The one I received was a large, 8.5" x 11" version. It almost makes me think I received the wrong book!
The Secret of Mary is an excellent guide to St. Louis de Montfort's seminal work, True Devotion to Mary. I highly recommend this book to all who wish to come to a better understanding of Mary's role as the Mother of Christ and how this reality is a source of grace in today's hurting world.
Great little pamphlet on Mary. Very well written and contains many devotional prayers. Good to further your understanding of The Blessed Mother.
St. Louis De Montfort brings hope to anyone by bringing him or her to Our Lady of Divine Grace. For She is Our Hope in all turmoil. Consecrating yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary's Immaculate Heart is salvation. Our Lady has always kept Her promise. Also pray the Holy Rosary and wear the Brown Scapular daily and you will see a difference from what you knew before.
