Some of the lessons in this book were helpful. Others were a little strange and tending to blame environment and circumstances for addictive behavior. There are sections that do a very good job of assisting clients in understanding their family of origin and relationships.

I've been facilitating Helping Women Recover workshops for about 6 years. This is definitely the most comprehensive and valuable course for women -- almost any woman with a background of trauma and/or substance abuse will find this very comforting and helpful.

I hold a class using this workbook in a 2yr residential program for substance abusers, 10 ladies per class. The different chapters cover so many issues that keep women messed up and in addiction. From abuse to the relationship w/ their mothers (and all the inbetween), it covers what needs to be faced. You can never have too many chocolate recipes!

Love love love!

I am a chocolate lover and received this book as a gift. It has pictures that make you CRAVE chocolate. The recipes sound wonderful and I can't wait to try them (just not sure which one to make first)! It includes several tips too! Great book!

I just love dark chocolate so much and bought this book from chocolate factory shop with eating free samples of chocolate and, of course, walked out with buying more dark chocolates. Good book for dark chocolate lover. I just ordered one from amazon for my best friend, although she is not really chocolate person. Heyy everybody loves chocolate, she must too and you must too!!! (says who?? Me, since when?? Today) :)

The book came looking like new, and it came before I remembered I should be watching for it. The recipes are chocolate, so whats not to like? (smile) It is a softback, wipeable cover, half inch thick (or so) sturdy book. All in all, terrific.

This the first cookbook I have ever read. Only deep dark chocolate could tempt me. I love the descriptions of different types of chocolate and its history. However, sharpen Barger is not the best US chocolate. Wheat about Asheville Chocolate Fetish? And how can you leave out New York? Also Paris has so many more chocolatiers. Enjoyed wallowing in chocolate ecstasy, but think author should have done more research. Marked several recipes, but haven't tried yet. Would love to hear what other readers have to say.

This book has quite a lot of information for beginning cooks, but not much for experienced bakers. I was hoping for new ideas, but didn't find any.

A very dramatic and engaging unique account of an African American, James Churchwill Vaughan (1828-93), migration from America to Africa a decade before the Civil War. This was his father’s dying wish. He did not have a happy start in Liberia, but after much struggle and a migration to present-day Nigeria, he found success as a merchant and set the ground work for a wealthy and politically established family that has had a great impact on the shaping of the region. The conclusion Lindsay presents is that “Africa, rather than America, offered new opportunities for people of African descent.” “Go back to Africa” is frequently used as an insult in American media and in historical accounts, but here this concept of returning to the ancestral land gains an economic and cultural strongpoint. The “Introduction” describes how the book began in 2002 during the author’s trip to Africa, where Lindsay met somebody of a mixed North Carolinian and Benin princess descent and this inspired her to learn more about his family, who turned out to be outstanding members of the community. The extensive family tree of this family in Africa and America takes up three pages preceding this intro. The family was only too happy to talk about these roots with their visitor, and clearly were of great help to the research it took to gather the details about James Vaughan’s life, which had previously been featured on the cover of Ebony in 1975, but was hardly known to scholars in the States. James actually did not move alone, but with his brother, and they were assisted by the American Colonization Society, the very one that championed a version of the “Go Back to Africa” campaign. Lindsay clarifies that Vaughan’s success was unique and that he was perhaps the sole person who “accomplished” the feat of reconnecting ties to his African family (3). Curiously, on the following page, Lindsay contradicts an early assumption she wrote into the book – apparently, Vaughan’s father was born in America, rather than in Africa, unlike the tale Vaughan was told or was passed down in the family. This is mentioned because if his father was born in Africa, his face would have been decorated with Yorubas facial marks that distinguished the main family trees in the region, and so Vaughan’s relatives would have been easier to find than they ended up being.A great, innovative biography, history and cultural study of an alternative migratory narrative. I really enjoyed this book because it felt relatable and applicable to my role as an enterprise software product manager. I already knew most of what they explained about market focus on users vs customers. Still those parts were described in such an interesting and concise way. I am motivated to apply more of what I knew about field support and product leadership teams but too frequently ignore in the rush for the next release. The other quarter of the book that was truly new and unique were the perspectives on product measurement and testing. I have just started to apply their advice and it is already starting to pay off significantly.

Great information for those of us struggling in the world of B2B enterprise applications. Some good nuggets of wisdom in there. Found myself nodding in agreement a lot. This is the book I've been looking for since taking my first role as a product manager in an enterprise company. Not only does it help identify ways that enterprise PM is unique compared to consumer PM roles, but it goes into depth on various practices that are essential to these enterprise roles (including market sizing, working with sales, etc). I also really appreciated the PM Profiles with PMs from various enterprise companies.

"Building Products for the Enterprise" is a guide to Product Management, especially focused on B2B software companies. The authors of the book are PMs at Adobe and SAS, two of the largest companies by revenue in that category, and throughout they include some interviews with other PMs from other companies of various stages. The reason I enjoyed the book is that it covers what makes enterprise product management special/weird/complex, while also providing insights that could only come from hard-won experience. I particularly enjoyed the section on how to form the "product leadership team", and the trade-offs of decision-by-committee vs nimble-but-silo'ed in roadmap planning. To me, this book belongs on a bookshelf alongside other material like Making Things Happen (Berkun); Peopleware (DeMarco, Lister); and The Mythical Man-Month (Brooks). Also a quick-and-easy read. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed Blair's book on product ownership. It is a short book full of insights and examples of how the product owner role works. As a software engineer it was useful to understand what Product Owners are doing when they are not asking us to build things for them.

This is a very good description of the product manager role but missing the practical tools.I hoped this book had more detailed examples

There are a bunch of Product Management books available, and I have read quite a few of them. The problem, however, is that most of these books are geared towards consumer products, which differ quite a bit from enterprise products in their very nature. This book sets out to bridge the gap, and succeeds in its mission. The authors do a good job at identifying specific Enterprise Product challenges, such as the difference between customers and users, and suggest how to tackle them. If you enjoyed Marty Cagan’s “Inspired” (2nd Edition), this book is an excellent companion that will help you utilize some of Cagan’s key principles in an Enterprise-context.

Among all the content on Product Management out there today, this is the first, and most useful, resource focusing specifically on enterprise software that I've seen. Many of us in this business face very similar challenges that are glossed-over or just ignored by the dominant consumer-facing perspective out there, and this book explains and clarifies so many issues that are unique to our segment in ways that I haven't seen done anywhere else. I can't recommend this book highly enough if you're an executive in an enterprise software company, or work in Product (obviously) - or even Marketing, Engineering, Design, Sales or something else. This book will directly help you build and deliver better enterprise products."

I had used this book years ago for a 2nd grade book group at my childrens' school (for 7 years). That group was mostly advanced readers who chose to use their free period to go to a monthly book group. They loved the book and the solve a mystery activity that we did. I am now volunteering with 2nd graders who have reading problems (many whose parents are not literate or don't speak English) and I read with a 2nd grader once a week. He loved this book and loved the treasure hunt activity we did with it. I gave it to another volunteer and she said it was the first book that the 2nd grade boy that she reads with would read out loud-for the previous few months, she read aloud to him. Before we read the book, we previewed vocabulary (made some cards) for the "detective words" (in the back of the book in new editions) and words that might be challenging.

My husband and my three year old daughter have loved reading these together at night. They love to try to figure out the mysteries together! The pictures are black and white but they have still seemed to keep my 3 year olds attention.

My begining reader loved this book. She was very pleased with Nate's obsession with pancakes and she really liked trying to solve the mystery herself. I am going to credit this book with turning her into a book lover because she was so engaged and wanted to keep reading. Prior to this book, she viewe reading as a chore and was even quite upset when she saw the number of pages and number of words on each page in this book. But once we got to the end, she spoke with such animation about the story an Fang and Annie an Nate that I knew she was hooked on reading. It was a book I love when I was younger and now I am happy to pass the joy (and pancakes) along to my little ones.

I have four boys - three of whom are old enough to read - and they have loved reading this series. You can read any of the books on their own, but why not start with this first, original story? The books are entertaining, and it's fun to try to solve the mystery as you read. I believe the newer additions may be divided into chapters, but originally these books were not. Either way, they are perfect for kids who have started reading on their own and are wanting to read a "chapter book." To me, this book is the perfect segue from picture books to chapter books. It's short enough to finish in a few days (early readers) or even just an hour or so (stronger readers). These books gave my kids a great sense of accomplishment in being able to read the whole thing all by themselves. I think that is priceless in boosting their confidence and interest in reading. I should also mention that while my boys loved these books, they would be great for girls also.

This is a great book and has kept my almost 7 year old entertained. It is a quality version with sturdy pages and spine. I would recommend this to any 6+ year olds looking for something a bit different to read.

Nate the Great is a really good series. The first book is great for beginning readers and strong readers alike! I even find my 11 year old reading them for fun. I always hear the kids laughing as they read and I never have to ask them twice to read any Nate the Great books. The kids love that there are some pictures throughout this book. The extra activities at the end are a huge bonus! There's fun facts and crafts that we all enjoy learning and doing together.

This book was a gift for Christmas for my 7yr old boy, he enjoyed the story and thought the pictures were great, he enjoys quick mini chapter books , he finished this in 20 min though, so for a good/quick reader know that it will be a fast read. He does want to read the others in the series.

My son has really started on his reading path this summer. I am always encouraging my children to read. Well, with this series and flat Stanley I don't even have to have him do his reading time. He is always reading now! I love it!! He has really enjoyed this book.

Loved this book, DiZaire is a trip but I live her attitude. Kalen needs to man up. Can’t wait for the next one

I love when the kids of past characters get together. Now that Kalen made me want to come through the book and slap him. How you let Kalyla dictate his relationship with Zarie. I love me some DiZarie she speaks her mind and doesn't care how you feel. Kalyla is just like her mom and she is going to find herself alone and bitter if she doesn't change. I can't wait to see what happens next now that Kalen knows Zarie is pregnant I hope she makes it difficult for him because he deserves it. Patiently waiting on part 2

This was a frustrating read because Kalen seems to be a little boy and not a grown man and his so called best friend is extremely annoying! I almost stopped reading it, but then it picked up and then with what he did and his reasoning behind it just pissed me off! I hope part two picks up

Kalen needs a new best friend because Kalyla isn't true to him. DiZarie ended up getting dogged by Kalen I didn't expect for him to do Zarie like that she deserves better. Zobie better run to Kalyla don't mean him no good either playing with people's feelings. Hurry up part 2.

Kalen wanted to be just friends but Kalyla all of sudden had an epiphany and decided she wanted him for her self. She made me so mad this entire book even Camille was making me mad. I hope he can make up with DiZarie. Good read! Ready for March 23rd for part 2.

I love everything about Dizarie! From her quirky personality to her intelligence and her spunk she is a catch. Kalen lost a real one and I hope she takes him and his parents through hell before letting them bond with her child. So glad part 2 is coming soon!

This was so good. I can’t wait for part 2! Kalen need to cut Kalyla ass off cuz now he sees what Zarie was telling him the entire time smh... Now that he has missed out on 4 months of the pregnancy cuz f her I hope he really cut her childish ass off!

It WAS ok.. I COULDN'T FINISH IT. SHOULD HAVE more spice to it it wasn't what I expected. I WILL read part two .
