I am first admitting that I have not read this book in its entirety. So far it is modestly helpful. The main reason why I am writing this review is because the FONT IT IS WRITTEN IN IS TERRIBLE!! The font is about 8-point size with huge spaces between the lines. Even with prescription reading glasses it gives me a headache after reading a few pages. Times New Roman or some similar classic font in a 10 or 11 point bolder font would be best for reading. I have never before seen such a peculiar font.

Self-help books tend to be very earnest and intense, this one however is about lightning up. It talks about the great value of laughter not only to improving your mental state but your physical state as well. The hormones released by laughing relax the blood vessels, lower your blood pressure ¬and reduce other markers of stress. The good news is that you can fake it till you make it. Faking or forcing laughter, it turns out, gives you pretty much the same benefits as doing the real thing spontaneously. The author went to India to study with the originator of laughter yoga, which has been catching on around the world because it's fun as well as healthful. So how about it, let's gather in groups and get our giggle on!

Laughing for no reason is a hard concept to grasp, but this book makes it real. I loved the blend of practical tools, real-life stories, and physiological science. I bought this book thinking laughter yoga ...was well something to be laughed at. However after reading this book and trying laughter yoga for myself I have to say I am convinced by it.This is a great book which has been written by someone who has clearly researched their subject and have a love for it. It leads you wishing there were more wannabe Santa Claus's out there HO HO HO

I picked up several Sacramento hiking books along with this one.1) Small & compact = easy to carry with you on the hike!2) Information is concise with each of the following items:* Distance* Approximate hiking time* Difficulty - ranges from Easy to Moderate to More Challenging* Trail surface* Best season - lists out best time for bird watching vs. wild flowers, etc.* Other trail users - such as mountain bikes* Canine compatibility* Fees and permits* Schedule - hours/seasons open* Maps - where to get better maps of the area than the black & white simplified image provided in the book* Trail contact - who to call if you have questions* Special considerations - such as "stay on trail to avoid poison oak"* Additional informationAlso each section includes:* Finding the trailhead - driving directions on where to park your car to start your hike* Map with dotted line around a simple black & white drawing of area to show where you'll be hiking* The Hike - information on what you'll experience* Miles and Directions - such as milestones and when to turn on the next part of the trailAppendix has a checklist for the day hiker of items to bring on their hike.Realize this is a small book. I thought this was weak and wondered why it was selected for the book from all the other Folsom Lake options.I was looking at the 2008 book Top Trails Sacramento: Exploring Valley, Foothills, and Mountains in the Sacramento Region [TOP TRAILS SACRAMENTO] [Paperback], which is a much thicker book with more options. Both books covered Bobelaine Audubon Sanctuary trail. Nearly both books were identical, though the Top Trails books adds in vertical feet, trail type, facilities and features.Also this book was published in 2009. I appreciate the publisher in the front of the book saying that information gets outdated so contact them, but it seems the Trail Contact info provided is key in making sure you don't drive somewhere only to find the book info isn't relevant any longer. Thus call ahead!Overall, I'm a beginning hiker and love the size of this book, as it gives me some options to start off with.For what this book was intended to do -- give a sampling of some walks within 60min of Sacramento -- then it does what it set out to do.

This book is so many different kinds of awesome. I have a fascination with the history of Denver (lived here all my life) and my moms side of the family has been here since the early 1900's. It is amaizng to know the different places, people and now... restaurants that used to thrive in these buildings. My mom is especially fond of the Drumstick restaurant and still pines for their Roquefort Cheese dressing so many years later. Thank you for writing this book... It has definitely been fun to read it and I can't wait to show my Mom and aunts/uncles.

Got this a gift for a Colorado history buff. I have not read it but she was very happy to get it.

With the bundle, you get two books, each of which has a CD with it. The first book is the "Exam Guide" with 12 chapters covering every aspect of the CEH exam and 10 to 15 practice questions per chapter. The second book is "Practice Exams" also with 12 chapters, each with 1-2 pages of study tips and 20 to 30 practice questions. Each CD has an electronic copy of the respective book it came with and a copy of the "Total Tester" software with 300 questions. If you install Total Tester from one CD and then install again from the other (just install it over the top with no uninstall), you get two separate sets of questions to choose from of 300 questions each. I did not compare the sets of questions, exhaustively. But, I don't think this is 600 total unique questions as some of them may overlap and also appear in the physical books. However, they appear to be largely unique and are a solid set of practice questions, regardless.From my recollection, a few of the (easier, basic knowledge) questions on the actual exam appeared to match almost verbatim the ones in the sample questions. This could be coincidence. (How may ways can you really phrase a question about the three-way handshake?).With the bundle, in addition to the books and CDs, you get 4 hours of lab time. Two hours come from a voucher on the inside cover of the Exam Guide. You may get these two hours when you purchase the Exam Guide alone (as opposed to with the bundle). I'm not sure. Along with the bundle, there is a card telling you where you can download a zip file of some bonus content. The bonus content is a Quick Review Guide (a 51 page PDF with a condensed version of each chapter) and a second voucher for 2 more hours of lab time.Although I did not make much use of the labs due to time constraints, I did set up my account, log in, and check them out. They were real virtual machines where you could load software and run commands and things rather than some crappy simulator you sometimes get as "labs". This is surprising since the lab time comes free with the book and someone, somewhere has to be paying for the VMs. One lab I checked out actually had 5 or 6 VMs running. It appears they had labs for every chapter. I'm not sure how extensive the lab steps were. But, they at least allow you to touch stuff which may help your recall for the test.Disclaimer; I already have my CISSP and Security+ and a couple networking certifications before taking the CEH, so your familiarity with this type of material may differ from mine.Using this book and some outside study (e.g. practicing with nmap and some of the other tools), I was able to pass the exam on the first try. The book's coverage of the material was more than adequate. In fact, a lot of the stuff mentioned in the book was never asked on the exam and the exam was much easier than this book implies. I think this is because the author really tries to cover all the bases exhaustively and ends up mentioning a lot more tools, etc. than actually appear on the exam.The only downside I saw was the number of errors in the material, leading to a four-star rather than a five-star review. There are a lot of typos and, I believe, some outright errors. I sent 22 errata items to a couple of the editors whose e-mails were listed on McGraw Hill's website. Hopefully, they will fix them in later editions or publish an errata document online. Some of them are just typos which can be overlooked. Others were more egregious where the practice question had the wrong answer marked as the correct one (which is frustrating when grading yourself). In one case, the book mentions what to expect from an XMAS nmap scan with regard to ports being considered open, closed, or filtered and it is the exact opposite of what the official nmap documentation says. Depending on who is right, this could cost you a question on the exam.Bottom line: Despite the errors, I recommend this book for anyone pursuing the CEH certification.

Synopsis: The book is great. Love the book with test questions, super awesome. If you have Sec+ or any of the myriad of security certificates out there, skip CEH and go for OSCP (far more valuable and becoming the industry standard) then a CISSP or SANS cert (yeah i know that's not the name of the cert anymore) because EC is ripping you off, big time.I am upset with the general principal of CEH. Just got my Sec+ and guess what, CEH is practically the same content with few exceptions: 1) CEH will tell you to use metasploit and sec+ (Sy0-401) doesnt really mention metasploit. 2) Sec+ talks about the management principals behind security (ie business continuity, security policy, SLA, etc) while CEH did not.lets talk about another hustle by EC - The exam cost. its $950 to take the test once. for the material they cover, ima call BS. CompTia ~$300 for sec+. thats reasonable. your not getting $950 worth out of this cert. Oh, and if you dont take EC's course, there is a $100 non refundable application fee to review your credentials (from what i read, it is not applied to the cost of the test voucher if your accepted).

I was worried this would not fully prepare me for the CEH exam since v10 has been available for several months, but I sat for the exam last week and passed! Matt Walker makes the material interesting by putting it into 'real world' stories and then repeats everything in plain language at the end of each chapter.If you are getting ready to take CEHv10 this book is still relevant, and I found it to be much easier to read than the official courseware.

After taking the massive CEH online course, I initially bought the Sybex review book by Oriyano. After going through it, I felt it did not help me much with test exams. It was very shallow and there seemed to be a lot of exam tested content missing from the book. Then I bought Walker's book and I am halfway done. It contains all the depth and missing information I am looking for. This should be the first and only book you need to prepare for the exam.

Initially I studied for the exam using CEH Official Online Course ware and Labs . It contains huge information and I could not get hold of the topics properly due to the massive knowledge it provides. This led me to put my plans to earn the certificate on hold.Recently I purchased this bundle and found it is well organized and easy to study and review.The book even enhanced some of the basic and fundamental knowledge, as the author is very concise and his explanations are clear and easy to grasp.I have passed the exam and would give most of the credit to this bundle.I removed a star for many mistakes in the both books.Strongly recommended.

Just finished the exam guide. Now I'm working on the practice exams. Good stuff. I learned a lot. I recommend using this as a stepping stone on your way to OSCP, which is a much more prestigious, respected, and challenging pentesting certification than CEH.

I recently started studying security and found that this book had rather good reviews as a CEH study guide. Matt does a fantastic job at making concepts relatable and humorous so that even a novice like me could keep going and not be intimidated by the material. I was in a time crunch so I didn't have time to practice with the tools he recommends, and I still got a 94/125. I'm sure it would have been a breeze if I had the luxury of more time. Now that CEHv10 is out, Matt will probably need to add a few more chapters in the next revision, but I can vouch for his quality of getting the information across.

We used this book in combination with Risk Steeves's brief book (or extended booklet) and a fabulous and indestructible Rough Guide map. We already knew where we wanted to stay, so our focus was on understanding the history of Barcelona, prioritizing the sites we would see (and taking in those sites in a sane way), and getting lost only in the best of ways. The Cadogan guide was outstanding for the first of these things especially and made a solid dent in the second (especially where background details were concerned). The maps were merely OK -- good for exploring a specific neighborhood but not for cross-neighborhood navigation. The Metro map in the back, on the other hand, was perfect and extremely useful. But we didn't buy this book for its maps. The authors are clearly familiar with the area and possess a witty yet informative writing style. We loved the area and if we can manage to return, we will bring this book along for the journey. Would give 4.5 stars if it were possible.

This is only for those of you who do not need pictures. Cadogan guides don't do pictures. The maps by region (often times very small regiosn) are the most useful. The layout features related regions and driving within them. One can find often obscure and potentially important sites not covered in other guides which only touch on the really high spots. This gets to the folkways of a region in powerful citations. I have never been steered worng by a Cadogan guide. This is the second copy of this guide I have owned. I gave away the last one. Yes Barcelona is wonderful BUT the places covered in this book reveals a whole different cultural guide; one fundamental to the identity of Barcelona but so much more. Don't miss out on this it goes way beyond the pretty picture books.

Very interesting to see what contemporaries thought of the Constitution thought about it.This man, who was an abolitionist, a Quaker, and a U.S. Attorney appointed appointed by Washington wrote in 1825 that secession was legal and constitutional. This book was used at West Point 30 years before the War. By no means was there even close to a widespread opinion regarding secession. Just read some of the legal writings from 1800 to 1840 for a taste of it. In fact the states that seceded stood on much firmer legal ground than the American colonies did on their break with England.

Textbook used in colleges, including West Point, during the early period of the republic. Strongly recommended for anyone today wanting to know how the Constitution was viewed prior to the sectional crisis of the mid-1800s.

Great book.

This is a great book, it helps in explaing why so many southern military officers chose the sise they did.

William Rawle was Washington's first appointed U.S. Attorney here in Philadelphia. He discusses, from first hand knowledge, the varied perspectives that formed the language of the Constitution. This work should not be overlooked by any serious student of the subject.
